Who says the Fey Folk are long gone and forgotten? This Christmas season, the Hot Springs community is in for a special holiday treat. Hot Springs Children’s Dance Theatre Company’s production of The Nutcracker Ballet will include for the first time in its annual presentation, The Waltz of the Flowers.
The talented dancer Katchiri Feys will be featured as the principle soloist in this piece. She represents a true embodiment of the fey (fairy) folk in her magical interpretation of the Dew Drop Fairy. Mrs. Moody Feys brings to the role ethereal qualities as she leaps and whirls inexhaustibly about the stage. Katchiri Feys’ performance as the Dew Drop Fairy will be one not to miss as she whips the Christmas Holiday into full enchantment.
Katchiri Feys was born in Belgium, where at age 7, she started training at Belgian’s only professional ballet school, the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp, then moved to the Kirov Academy of Ballet in D.C., then the Kirov, then the Rock School in Philadelphia. At 17, she moved to Miami to attend the Miami City Ballet School, where she was exposed to and trained extensively in Balanchine’s technique and ballets.
Since retiring after her first baby was born in 2014, she returned to share the stage with the HSCDTC this past season as the Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty and is looking forward to the challenge of interpreting the demanding featured role of the Dew Drop Fairy.
