Learn Cinematography and Screenwriting at Low Key Arts

Interested in learning the art of cinematography and screenwriting? Sign up now for Low Key Arts’ Spring classes.

This March, Low Key Arts’ (LKA) Inception to Projection Filmmaking Program will offer a specialized, immersive 3-week Cinematography course designed for all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned filmmakers.

Taking place at Low Key Arts’ Digital Arts studio in downtown Hot Springs, this hands-on session will provide participants with the essential skills and techniques to bring their cinematic visions to life using the renowned ARRI Alexa Mini camera and professional grip and lighting gear.

Through a combination of lectures and practical exercises, students will explore the art and craft of Cinematography, focusing on the critical elements of lighting, and composition, while getting to work as the Camera Operator, Gaffer, Key Grip, Best Boy, and Assistant Camera as the class creates a collaborative project that will screen at the Persistence of Vision Film Festival in Hot Springs in January, 2026. The course fee is $250 and limited, need-based scholarships are available, as well as custom payment plans.

LKA will offer a specialized Screenwriting session running from April until December 2025. Do you have a great idea for a screenplay but you don’t know where to start? The Screenwriting session of Inception to Projection Filmmaking Program covers it all by taking writers through the inner workings of a screenplay from start to finish.

All Screenwriting classes are taught on Zoom so participants can join from anywhere. The course fee is $350 and includes 9 months of instruction, a screenplay workshop, a pass to Persistence of Vision Film Festival, and a showcase of writing at the festival.
