MASM Announces STEM Leadership Award Recipient

Mid-America Science Museum (MASM) is proud to announce that Bonnie Spencer Swayze, president of Alliance Rubber Company, is this year’s recipient of the museum’s community STEM Leadership Award.

“This year we are honoring Bonnie Swayze because she is inspirational as a leader of one of the few women-owned companies in the U.S. While leading her company, Ms. Swayze has still found time and resources to give back to the local community and support education in Hot Springs,” said Diane LaFollette, executive director at MASM.

This year’s STEM leadership award ceremony and scholarship award will once again take place during the special VIP reception immediately before the 20th Annual Taste of the Holidays begins. A limited number of VIP tickets are currently available.

The VIP reception begins at 5 pm and will feature food by Chef Casey Copeland at the Avenue in the Waters Hotel, as well as a signature cocktail by Tri-Lakes Liquor and live music by Jacob Flores. This year’s VIP reception will be garden-party style and will take place outside beneath the museum’s Bob Wheeler Science Skywalk.

The main event begins at 6PM, and, in homage to the Museum’s 40th anniversary, guests are encouraged to dress in their best 1979-era attire. Guests will be able to enjoy music and decorations from the 1970s while they sample food and beverages from over 21 local restaurants and businesses. This year’s stunning silent auction will also offer a great opportunity for guests to get a jump on holiday shopping.

Tickets to the 20th Annual Taste of the Holidays are $85 in advance and $100 on the day of the event, and are currently available for purchase online, or at the museum. A limited number of VIP tickets are available online or by calling 501-767-3461. For more information on this year’s 20th Annual Taste of the Holidays, visit midamericamuseum.org.
