Massage therapy is increasingly in demand within the oncology and palliative care settings, a trend driven largely by
consumer demand. Reputable cancer centers across the country understand the benefits and regularly refer patients
for massage therapy. Many, such as MD Anderson and Sloan Kettering, provide onsite massage services for their
patients.

Susan Gee, Licensed Massage Therapist, learned the power of touch to sooth side effects of treatment for her sister.
“Joyce loved receiving massage during chemo treatments. It helped her relax and eased a very stressful situation. I
saw the results first-hand and knew I could help relieve suffering with massage.”

Studies suggest that massage can ease pain, reduce fatigue, stress, anxiety and depression for those with cancer or
cancer histories. Skilled, gentle touch can be a wonderful source of comfort during a challenging time such as cancer
treatment. It’s important to seek a therapist who knows how to adjust the work for safety and comfort.

Susan Gee, LMT, BCTMB is owner and therapist at Progressive Massage Therapy, LLC in Hot Springs Village. She
