Garland County residents can bring household hazardous waste to the Garland County Fairgrounds, 4831 Malvern Avenue, for the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This event offers safe, free disposal of unused or leftover household products containing toxic, flammable, corrosive or reactive chemicals. A paint exchange area will also be available for paint that is still usable and stored in the original container with a legible label. Passenger tires (no rims) and electronic waste will also be accepted.
“This drive-through event helps prevent improper disposal of hazardous waste, including placing them in household trash, pouring them down sinks, toilets or storm drains, or dumping them on the ground,” said City of Hot Springs Solid Waste Director Randy Atkinson. “Left stored improperly at home, hazardous waste can pose danger to children and pets, and possibly cause hazardous fumes or fires.”
The event, sponsored by the Southwest Central Regional Solid Waste Management District, is for household quantities only. Hazardous waste from companies and businesses will not be accepted. For information, call 501-321-6911.
