National Novel Writing Month

NaNoWriMo? Say it Quickly 3 Times Then Head to the Library With Pen in Hand

NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, is coming to Garland County Library. The event occurs in November and challenges participants, called Wrimos, to write a 50,000-word novel in the thirty days of November. To learn more, go to www.NaNoWriMo.org and sign up. Participation is free.

For the first time, the Garland County Library will host a Come Write In Program, in which Wrimos are actively encouraged to come to the library to write together. The official NaNo area will be the tables directly across from the door in the north-east corner of the library. Wrimos may come any time the library is open and use this area.

Dr. Millie Gore Lancaster is the NaNo Municipal Liaison for the Garland County Library, and she says, “Wrimos begin prepping in September for the marathon November event.

The mission statement of NaNoWriMo is: National Novel Writing Month is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that believes your story matters. We provide the structure, community, and encouragement to help people find their voices, achieve creative goals, and build new worlds—on and off the page.

Visit the library online at www.gclibrary.com or call the library at 501-623-4161 for more information about what’s going on at the Garland County Library. The library is located at 1427 Malvern Avenue in Hot Springs.
