Learn to design costumes like this one, created for the “Nutcracker Ballet.”
Students with an interest in costume design and construction will have the rare opportunity to participate in the costume design and construction workshop held at Emergent Arts for this year’s Hot Springs Children’s Dance Theater Co. presentation of the classical ballet, “The Nutcracker.”
The workshop will focus on the design and construction of period costumes and the tailoring required for a specific performer’s size, and the physical challenges of the choreography. The grace and rigors of classical ballet require very lightweight and flexible costumes that also offer the dancers quick change capabilities.
Hannah Mills will serve as the lead artist for this project. Hannah leads the program’s costume workshops, fostering inclusion, creativity, and lasting bonds with students from all backgrounds.
The workshops will be held at Emergent Arts, 341 A Whittington Avenue, on Thursdays, 4:00 PM-5:15 PM, through November 20.
For more information regarding the workshops, please call 501-655-0836 or visit https://emergentarts.wildapricot.org/page-1075153. For information on the Hot Springs Children’s Dance Theatre Co., visit www.hscdtc.org.
