About the Cover . . .

“Vasti Jackson”

Photo Courtesy of Big Steam Blues & Roots Music Festival

Our September cover features none other than Mississippi blues legend Vasti Jackson—a soulful nod to Beats & Beans: The Ultimate Blues & Bites Festival, rolling into Hot Springs this month. (Catch the full scoop on pg. 3.)

Big thanks to Joe Powell at Big Steam for tracking down the photo and to Joe Dempsey, whose resolution wizardry brought it to life. It really does take a village—and ours knows how to groove.

Meanwhile, harking back to our July cover … Check this out!

Karen Walls delighted us with this candid shot of Jet, her cat, who possesses undeniable star power.

Unstaged, (wink, wink) unfiltered, and uncannily on-theme, Jet might just be the living embodiment of Irma McLeod’s “Black Flower,” our July cover art.

Whether doppelganger or muse, Jet’s got cover model energy—and apparently, a taste for Springs Magazine! Karen, you and Jet truly brought a Cheshire Cat Grin to our day.

Looking ahead to October… Our September issue is packed with Save the Date articles and ads to help you plan your October calendar—from festivals to fundraisers, fall is filling up fast.

And speaking of October, next month’s cover will spotlight a stunning layout celebrating the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.

Once again, we send heartfelt thanks to all who made this issue possible!
