Toothapalooza Returns to Mid-America with Free Family Admission and Dental Screenings

Toothapalooza features interactive oral health activities throughout the museum.

Mid-America Science Museum (MASM) will host its annual Toothapalooza event on Saturday, August 9, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Sponsored by Delta Dental of Arkansas, the event is designed to promote dental health ahead of the new school year. Toothapalooza features free dental screenings for children 17 years of age and under from 10 AM to 2 PM, along with science-based activities throughout the museum.

The first 500 guests to mention “Toothapalooza” at the front desk will receive free admission for their family (up to five entries per group). Guests can explore oral health through a series of interactive stations set up throughout the museum.

Activities will include making dental impressions, viewing teeth under a microscope, crafting gritty “plaque slime,” brushing simulated stains from corn kernels, and painting model smiles to learn about dental sealants.

Younger children can enjoy story time with the Tooth Fairy at a dedicated Pre-K area. A bingo-style activity card will guide families through each station. The popular Plaqueasaurus vs. Flossiraptor dinosaur duel will return with performances at 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM.

“This event connects science and health in a way that’s both fun and educational for families,” said Diane LaFollette, CEO of MASM. “Toothapalooza is about more than brushing and flossing—it’s an opportunity to engage with preventive health care in a positive environment. We’re proud to continue this tradition with the support of Delta Dental of Arkansas, whose commitment makes this event accessible and impactful for families across the region.”

Located at 500 Mid America Blvd. in Hot Springs, Mid-America Science Museum was voted “Best Museum” in the Sentinel-Record’s Readers’ Choice Awards. For event details, visit MidAmericaMuseum.org or call 501-767-3461.
