Tarot: Coping with Uncertainty: The Path

By Michelle Crandell

   1. The attitude to be aware of within yourself: FIVE OF CUPS: Disappointment.

Accept that you will have moments, even days when you “loose heart.” Recognizing “what has been spilled” emotionally will make you sad. As a group, humans are currently letting each other down. Excessive focus on this reality will limit your ability to love what is still beautiful and good for you in the present moment.

    2. The influence of others, the environment, and the world: KNIGHT OF SWORDS: Irrational Behavior.

Currently, many people are speaking and doing without thinking. Although well-intentioned, these people are taking action before they really consider the pros and cons of their actions. The desire for quick and simple solutions to complex problems leads people to act impulsively based on faulty information. It is better to witness than become involved. Then, the actions of others become a learning experience for you without personal harm. Remember, there is no such thing as “unintended consequences.” Negative outcomes occur as a result of implementing an idea without consideration of the big picture.

      3. Hopes and fears: THREE OF PENTACLES: Teamwork.

Focus on hope, what you can do. Now is a time when you can work with small groups of compatible colleagues who are goal oriented and competent. Become a team member in order to deepen relationships based on reliability, collaboration and cooperation. Practice the skill of working with others to implement an idea or make a mutual dream come true.

3a.   Hopes and Fears: THREE OF CUPS: Become a better friend. (extra card)

Focus on hope. Now is a time to deepen friendships and improve your ability to have positive relationships with people you already know. Increase your ability to get along with others and enjoy others. Create love, security, comfort and a sense of community through your interactions with others.

      4. The Outcome: QUEEN OF SWORDS (reversed).

Follow the lead of logic, science and intellect. The Queen of Swords sees the big picture, the long-term consequences of present actions, and the depth and complexity of situations. She cuts to the root of problems and has clarity about cause and effect. She leads with intelligence and makes decisions based on ethics and evidence. Follow the lead of those who embody the Queen of Swords…or become the queen yourself.
