Third Annual SPA-CON

Butch Patrick, who became a worldwide TV star at the age of 7 and went on to play werewolf Eddie Munster on “The Munsters” series, will be a special celebrity guest at the Third Annual Spa-Con multi-genre comics and pop culture convention in Hot Springs September 21 – 23.

“Eddie Munster and his monstrous family became cultural icons in the 1960s, and their popularity has never waned,” said Bill Solleder, marketing director for Visit Hot Springs, which sponsors the convention with the Garland County Library.

“Plus, Patrick will be bringing along the Munster Koach and Dragula Tribute Cars as a special added treat. I can’t wait to see him and these great cars.”

Patrick will be joining legendary actress Pam Grier and a group of other special guests who were announced earlier for Spa-Con.

Patrick began his professional acting career at the age of 7 and is best known for his role as Eddie Munster, the child werewolf on the CBS comedy television series “The Munsters” from 1864 to 1966. He appeared in 70 episodes during “The Munsters’” two-season run from 1964 to 1966.

Patrick continues the Munster’s legacy by touring with the Munster Koach and Dragula Tribute Cars, and the original 1964 Barris/Von Dutch Chain Link Schwinn Stingray Bike, and other Munster props to include Munster Go-Cart, Baseball Bat, Wolf Wolf, Miniature Spot, and Street Signs.

Grier, who became a superstar in what were known as “Blaxploitation” movies in the 1970s and 1980s, will be joined by other celebrities, including Sean Maher, star of the hit movie “Serenity,” Arvell Jones, a renowned illustrated for Marvel Comics, and Nightingale Vixen, the well-known cosplay performer, and Veronica Taylor, a voice actress who is the voice of Ash Ketchum from Pokemon.

Other Spa-Con guests announced previously include: Nipah Dubs, an award-winning cosplayer; Chad Maupin, a comics and visual artist known for his work developing the brands Fayettechill and Houndstooth Clothing Co.; David Lasky, a comics and visual artist; Bill Tsutsui, president and professor of history at Hendrix College, who will present a special panel at Spa-Con 2018; Ross Watson, an award-winning game designer and author; Yale Stewart, a cartoonist from St. Louis, best known for creating, writing, and illustrating the award-winning webcomic, JL8.

Spa-Con, presented by Visit Hot Springs and the Garland County Library, will be held at the Hot Springs Convention Center, with an array of activities that will include laser tag, an escape room, video games, panel discussions, workshops, cosplay contests and interaction with the celebrity guests.

Weekend passes and VIP passes for Spa-Con 3 are available at www.spa-con.org. For more information, call Bill Solleder at 501-321-2027.
