27th Annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival

Official Lineup of Documentary Films to be Released Mid-September

These fine folks from the 2016 festival represent just a fraction of the number of staff and volunteers it takes to run the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival each year.   Those interested this year can attend the Volunteer Meet & Greet Saturday, Sept. 29th.

Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival (HSDFF) is the longest running all documentary film festival in North America and this year the festival will celebrate its 27th season, October 19th-27th at the Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa in Hot Springs, AR.

The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival offers an extraordinary mix of documentary features and shorts, both domestic and international, as well as exclusive film panels, student education initiatives, workshops, tributes to industry greats, and access to a host of celebrity guests and film industry professionals.

“With our lineup soon to be announced in mid-September it is our aim to explore our southern identity as it relates to the current political & economic climate. Our upcoming slate is proving to be our most provocative to date and the films will set the tone for the thought-provoking conversations we hope our screenings will inspire.

“As a prominent festival of the South, we are proud to highlight films that are uniquely southern and this year we will be giving an award to the Best Southern Feature and Short Film. It is our desire to highlight films that challenge the stereotypes that are often associated with this region,” says Executive Director, Jennifer Gerber.

The 2018 film official lineup will feature themes such as Southern Stories, the #MeToo Movement, Fake News & Propaganda, along with films that highlight the remarkable achievements of Groundbreaking Women. While this is a year of serious subject matters, the lineup would not be complete without including films that are breathtakingly beautiful, wildly entertaining and refreshingly inspirational so that audience members can enjoy a wide range of perspectives and characters.

The official 2018 film selections will be released mid-September on the festival website. Look for the October edition of The Springs Magazine for program information.

Festival Passes are available at www.hsdfi.org. General Admission tickets will be available starting Mon., Oct. 1st. For current festival news and information, visit the website or Facebook: Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.

Interested in volunteering? Please join the staff for a Volunteer Meet & Greet, Sat., Sept 29th, 1:00-3:00PM at Core Public House, 833 Central Ave, Hot Springs.
