The Garland County Library will start new operating hours the week of November 8th. The new hours will be 8 am – 6 pm., Monday through Friday, and 1 p.m. – 6 pm, on Saturday and Sunday.
“Libraries have to adapt to the world around them to continue providing the best service possible. With the pandemic, we have seen that our users want earlier hours while the need for evening hours has diminished. Since most other businesses have adopted earlier hours, we have to adjust ours to make sure we’re open when people want to use us the most,” said Adam Webb, Library Director.
The updated hours are due to a number of factors, including data analyzed from patron foot traffic, and staff and patron feedback. Many patrons may find these hours more consistent and convenient than they were before.
The library will close at 6:00 pm every day of the week, opposed to fluctuating closing times. The library will also open at 8:00 am every weekday, which is an hour earlier than previously. This extended morning accessibility reflects the high library activity from patrons at opening.
