Let Your Light Shine – Light Uptown

By Victoria Pike

If you’re looking for a way to give back to the community, while enjoying a night out, you’re in the right place. On Friday, May 10th, the Park Avenue Community Association (PACA) and the SummerFest Committee will host “Let Your Light Shine” – a fundraiser for the benefit of Uptown Park Avenue. The groups are continuing to raise money to “Light Uptown,” which includes purchasing Central Park-style street lights to place along Park Avenue in order to revitalize the northern entryway into Hot Springs and provide beautiful lighting and safety at night.

At the May event, the Maxwell Blade Theatre of Magic will be home to many silent auction items, and numerous talent acts. The night will open up with the singing of Tommy Stanco as pre-show entertainment. A very unique act will include live drawings by Richard Stevens and Gary Simmons. You could take their artwork home as the drawings will be for sale at the event.

Special guest, fire performer, Ryan Steiger will be welcomed as he performs his dangerous act. Other features will include the singing of Shirley Chauvin and Sylvia Stems, and, of course, the Magic of Maxwell Blade himself. Also, don’t miss the bachelor/ bachelorette auction where you could have the chance to win a limo ride to and from dinner with someone famous. There will be a cash bar and delicious hors d’oeuvres will be catered by Scot Key.

General admission tickets are $50; VIP seating $75. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7:30 PM. To purchase tickets, call 501-623-6200 or visit www.maxwellblade.com.
