Dryden Pottery- Located along Hot Springs historic Whittington Avenue, Dryden Pottery has been in business for over 72 years. Started by Alan J. Dryden in 1946, they are a third generation family-owned pottery making business.
Zack Dryden is currently running the pottery alongside his father J.K. Dryden. Both are making pottery. J.K
Dryden is a master potter of 50 years.
Within the potteries showroom you will find not only functional pottery including cups, plates, bowls, and
ovenware, but also decorative pottery, including vases and other art pieces. The pottery is oven, microwave and
dishwasher safe but not for outdoor use.
Dryden Pottery is known for their unique in-house custom formulated glazes and clay. They use locally
sourced quartz silica in both their clay and glazes. Their glazes are easily recognized by collectors and have been
developed and refined since the potteries inception.
Alan J. Dryden attended the University of Chicago. He studied chemical engineering and was the first
person to use volcanic ash as a glaze. Dryden Pottery has employed over 500 people though the years. It was at one
time a bustling factory but is no longer in factory production.
Along with making functional and art pottery, Dryden Pottery is beginning to host and teach
pottery workshops, give daily live pottery wheel demonstrations from 10 – 11 am and teach
evening pottery classes.
