Fish-O-Ween
Join us for our annual fall festival and fishing derby, Fish-O-Ween, on Saturday, October 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Family Park (215 Family Park Road). All ages are invited to enjoy a pumpkin patch, games, crafts, snacks, and lunch, then try their luck at the fishing derby. Costumes are encouraged, but optional — everyone is welcome just as they are, so bring the whole family for a fun morning fun!

Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Feeling crafty? Enter our Pumpkin Decorating Contest by bringing a decorated pumpkin to the library and filling out a card with your name, age, and phone number. Each pumpkin gets a number and goes on display at the library all month long for patrons to enjoy.

Voting takes place in-house and online Friday, October 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. One Facebook like or one paper ballot each counts as a vote. The top pumpkin in each age category wins a $40 Hobby Lobby gift card; the runner-up receives $10. Winners will be announced by 4 p.m. that day.

Pet Photo Contest
Think you have the most photogenic pet in Garland County? Submit your fur (or feather or scale) baby into our Pet Photo Contest and prove it.

Photo submissions will be accepted from Thursday, October 1 through Friday, October 31, and must be emailed to adultservices@gclibrary.com

Voting will take place in person at the library on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. Animals will be divided into three categories: Dog, Cat, and Other, with the top three winners in each category receiving Petco gift cards as prizes.

  • One entry per person
  • One pet per photo
  • All Ages welcome to participate!
  • Entries must include your pet’s name and human’s name in the email
  • Email adultservices@gclibrary.com to enter

By submitting your photo, you consent to your photo being printed by library staff for voting purposes, as well as being shared on social media. Photos should be of real, domesticated animals that you have ownership of. Drawings, stock photos, AI-generated images, etc. will not be accepted.

There are so many reasons to visit the library this October — grab your costume, get decorating, and join the fun! For more information on all the events at the GCLibrary, visit www.gclibrary.com.
