Small Poems, Big Impact: Haiku Society’s 29th Conference 

Friday and Saturday, November 7 and 8, the 29th Haiku Society of America South Region Conference will be held at the Garland County Library. Haiku poets from many states will attend. The public is invited. The event is free, compliments of the Library and the Arkansas Haiku Society. 

Who’s coming? Lee Gurga, of Lincoln, Illinois, Editor of Modern Haiku; June Rose Dowis of Shreveport, Louisiana, Haiku Teacher and Author; Dr. John Zheng of Itta Bena, Mississippi, Chairman of the Department of English at Mississippi Valley State University; David Oates of Atlanta, Georgia, Author, Haiku Teacher and Entertainer; Captain Billy Bones, formerly of Hawaii and currently serving as the HSA South Region Coordinator; July Michaels who was the HSA Ambassador to Arkansas, and daughter of Dr. Johnye Strickland, a haiku legend; Stacy Pendergrast and Paul Kreth, haiku poets and filmmakers; Andrew Newman, award-winning haiku poet, and Alan Paul Beck of Little Rock.
