Paper books vs. Ereaders – who cares as long as you’re reading! And with your Garland County Library (GCL) card, you can read what you want, how you want, and when you want – all for FREE! Borrow print books from the Library or download eBooks from Libby and Hoopla, the Library’s free digital book platforms.
Libby at a glance:
Libby is the newest version of OverDrive, one of the first eBook and audiobook lending services used by GCL. With Libby, users can borrow five items at a time for a 14-day period. Users can have up to seven items on hold and can suspend titles that become available at an inconvenient time. The collection is curated by the Arkansas Digital Library Consortium, allowing users to request specific titles for purchase.
Hoopla Digital at a glance:
With Hoopla, users can borrow a variety of digital content – eBooks, comic books, audiobooks, music albums, and even movies. Users get ten checkouts each month. Books, audiobooks, and comics lend for 21 days, music lends for 7 days, and films lend for 3 days. Hoopla curates its selection, and the available titles change frequently. Bonus – Hoopla offers an app for smart televisions, making watching free films from home simple.
