August brings a special kind of cheer to our quirky little town, as we celebrate two remarkable milestones: the City of Hot Springs’ 150th birthday and the 37th birthday of Gallery Walk. Together, they mark generations of creativity, community spirit, and the enduring belief that art belongs to everyone.
For 37 years, our artists, gallery owners, art lovers, visitors, and supportive businesses have shaped an arts community unlike any other. Through ice storms, incredible heat waves, pounding rain, and even economic challenges, our galleries have opened their doors with generosity and grit.
Month after month—444 First Friday evenings—they’ve welcomed us with cookies, beverages, freshened spaces, swept floors, hung exhibits, and warm smiles. It’s real work, done with real heart, and it has never wavered.
Across those decades, we’ve enjoyed an extraordinary variety of events: festivals, parties, exhibits, shows, and spontaneous moments of joy that stitched themselves into the cultural fabric of Hot Springs. Some art businesses have come and gone, while others have stood strong since the very beginning, each contributing to the story we celebrate today.
Our arts community thrives because of shared support—shopping, dining, showing up, donating, encouraging, and creating. Artists helping artists. Neighbors helping neighbors. For 37 years, Gallery Walk has been a testament to what happens when a city believes in the power of art.
Happy 150th, Hot Springs. Happy 37th, Gallery Walk. Here’s to the next chapter.
Let’s Party!!!!
