Spring Into the Library: Fun is Blooming

Preparations for the huge, annual Summer Reading Program are well underway, but that hasn’t slowed down the Librarians at the Garland County Library. They’ve planned another month full of unmissable events. Find out about it all at www.gclibrary.com

MAGICAL CREATURES NIGHT | Fri | May 9 | 6:30 PM – 8 PM | All Ages 

The magic returns this spring with one of our favorite all-ages events! Magical Creatures Night promises to be a fairy-filled night of fun complete with a unicorn carriage ride, a ballet performance of The Sleeping Beauty by the Hot Springs Children’s Dance Theatre Company, exclusive Reading Dragons cards, and photos with a fairy from Mystical Mayhem Productions.  

UKULELE CLUB | Mon | May 12 & Mon | May 19 | 4 PM | 18+ 

Longtime Library Public Services Specialist Jill Dryden leads this bi-monthly ukulele meetup. Whether you’re new to the ukulele or a seasoned strummer, this musical social club is just the right vibe. All sorts and abilities are welcome.  

INKHEARTS FICTION WRITERS WORKSHOP  

Tues | May 13 | 6 PM | 18+ 

Join fiction writer and GCL staff member Chanan Emmons for a monthly dive into fiction writing and the writing life. The Inkhearts meet on the second Tuesday of each month to discuss craft-related topics and workshop fiction selections submitted by members of the group. No prior experience required, and new participants will be guided in the workshop process.  

SUMMER READING PROGRAM KICKOFF PARTY 

Sat | May 31 | 10 AM – 12 PM | All Ages 

The end of May means one thing at the Garland County Library – SUMMER READING TIME! Join all your favorite librarians and library workers for the annual SRP Kickoff Party! Celebrate the beginning of it all with a massive party full of games, food, activities, prizes, and joy!  

BOOKMOBILE | Multiple Visits Monthly 

Donna the Bookmobile hits the road multiple times weekly to spread book love all around Garland County. May’s visits include Artfully Baked and Brewed Coffee Shop in HSV, Mountain Pine USPS, McAuley Senior Center, Levi Towers, HS Farmers Market, and more!
