The Power of Beliefs

By Peggy Lindsey
Beliefs . . . we all have them! Normally we don’t give them a second thought, but when we consciously work with them, they have the power to change the course of life’s trajectory.

Most of us are ruled by our thoughts, and if we’re honest, they don’t serve us very well much of the time. Stuck in our heads, we overthink everything. It’s exhausting. We’re bombarded with pressures from society, the media, and even loved ones to believe a certain way . . . and that we better get on board.

Thankfully, we have a choice. We can choose to believe the narrative, or we can trust in the value of our own wisdom and personal experiences as the foundation of our beliefs. Making that choice is a choice that will change our lives.

When we embrace our own knowledge and understanding, we can see things very differently. Our perception and awareness change. What is happening before us becomes crystal clear, and we can see through the smoke and mirrors.

Can our beliefs change? Absolutely! A child’s belief in Santa Claus transforms as she grows up. We all are growing and evolving and our beliefs reflect that evolution.

Tony Robbins stated, “Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives.”

So, take a close look at your beliefs . . . see if they are in alignment with who you truly are and resonate with your heart.
