Tarot: Cancer & The Chariot

The Major Arcana Tarot card associated with Cancer is The Chariot.

By Michelle Crandell
If your astrological sign is Cancer, your corresponding Tarot Major Arcana card is The Chariot. The Chariot represents how change happens. Change involves balancing apparent opposites: effort and rest, power and responsibility, work and play, holding on and letting go. The Chariot governs motivation, emotion and movement.

Charioteers are confident, sometimes arrogant or hasty, especially when young. People influenced by this card desire to motivate others, accomplish things effortlessly, and manage multiple tasks well. They strive to combine quietude and creativity, stability, and adventure.

The Chariot is a “young card,” likened to an adolescent. The experiences a Charioteer has negotiating the world via willpower, self-control, success, and limitation affect them deeply. A Charioteer might be pulled apart by competing needs, losing their way, or willfully denying reality. Their challenge is to master the laws of cause and effect, stay true to what they value, and facilitate the process of growth in self and others.

Shadow aspects of The Chariot: believing that having a goal leads to futility; self-neglect/self-indulgence; fear of failure.

Lack of self-discipline can prevent the Cancer born from learning how to manage competing desires, an ability needed to move forward in life. Michelle Crandell provides individual Tarot readings for a fee.
