Tarot and Astrology

The Major Arcana

By Michelle Crandell

The Tarot has synchronicity with Astrology. Each sign of the Zodiac is connected to a Major Arcana card. Aries is associated with The Emperor card, Taurus with The Hierophant, Gemini with The Lovers, Cancer with The Chariot, Leo with Strength, Virgo with The Hermit, Libra with Justice, Scorpio with Death, Sagittarius with Temperance, Capricorn with The Devil, Aquarius with the Star and Pisces with The Moon.

Each of the nine planets is associated with a Major Arcana card, as are the Sun and the Moon. Mercury is linked with The Magician card, the Moon with The High Priestess, Venus with The Empress, Jupiter with Wheel of Fortune, Mars with The Tower, the Sun with The Sun card, Pluto with Judgement, Saturn with The World, and Uranus with The Fool.

Thus, each Major Arcana card is linked to a specific astrological influence. Learning about the Major Arcana card connected to your birth sign can help you better understand yourself and others.

Associating Major Arcana cards with planetary forces can deepen your practice, whether it be Astrological charting or reading the cards.
