Pennsylvania sculptor Chad Fisher showed a one-sixth-size clay model of the eight-foot bronze statue of baseball legend Babe Ruth that will be installed at the city’s new Majestic Park baseball complex. The statue depicts Ruth in his New York Yankees uniform swinging the bat and watching the ball sail toward the outfield fence.
“We had a great gathering of Hot Springs residents eager to see what the full-size statue will look like and to honor Dr. Muldoon, the Hamby Family and Mr. Beasley,” Visit Hot Springs CEO Steve Arrison said. “It was really wonderful to get an up-close look at the model and to see folks turn out to honor our three donors for stepping up to the plate to make this artwork possible.”
Work is nearing completion on the Majestic Park complex. It is a five-field complex located on the site of the former Hot Springs Boys and Girls Club and was the site of one of the first spring training sites in Major League Baseball history.
