Nagy’s Solar Course Available Free on YouTube

Bob Nagy, solar expert, finds many uses for solar power.

By Bob Nagy
Since the first oil crisis, I’ve been building and installing renewable energy systems. The first two panels I purchased in 1976 are still in operation today on my shed lighting up the yard at night. Between then and now, I’ve been responsible for literally thousands of solar installations.

About 15 years ago, I realized that I needed to create a video training series on how to take responsibility for your own energy use. It took four months to create, but it has served as the basis of Solar training for over 3000 people. There have been several revisions over the years. I had the DVD course on Amazon for 10 years and thousands were sold.

This course is the basis of my Solar Energy Class at National Park College’s Innovative Training Center here in Hot Springs.

Since our new president is promoting adoption of renewable energy, I thought it is time to start giving away my course. To that end, I’ve posted it all on a YouTube channel. It is over 5 hours of comprehensive solar energy training.

The course is weighted towards off-grid solar systems. This is where you completely disconnect from the power lines and become energy independent. I also cover Grid-Tie systems where you back-feed the commercial power lines. Included are also videos on reducing your energy needs and building small portable solar systems.

Search YouTube for “Robert Nagy Solar Power.” You’ll see a few chapters. View and then subscribe to link to all of them. Go slow, take notes, and soon you will be a solar power expert.

We made the switch from being hunter-gatherers of our food thousands of years ago. Without that, not a single town could have been built. We now must make the same shift to being farmers of a permanent energy supply. The sooner we do, the less human suffering will occur. It’s pretty obvious that we are a little late with this transition. There are a lot of opportunities, innovations and jobs available in this new field.

We, as Americans, changed the face of the world with our creativity born of freedom. Our cell phones, space exploration, internet, jet travel, and personal computers have defined a century. We should be leading the way to a clean and permanent energy system. I hope that is what my little effort will help propel.
