About the Cover…Chris Meeks’ “Spring Break Bath”

After many years of admiring the graphic artistry of Chris Meeks, we’re very happy here at The Springs Magazine to showcase this piece he created just for us.

As a Hot Springs based illustrator, Meeks has been honing his skills in illustration for the past several years. While working as a graphic designer for the local newspaper, The Sentinel-Record, Meeks pursued his side hustle as a freelance illustrator, working for several different companies, including AMC and Topps.

His major contribution to illustration has been in the trading card business where he has illustrated cards for Star Wars, Game of Thrones, DC & Marvel, as well as Topps’ name brands including Mars Attacks and Garbage Pail Kids. Meeks works in a variety of mediums including pen & ink, marker and acrylic. He’s taking a crack at airbrushing, which is going “so-so,” as he puts it.

Currently, he is working on a new set of Marvel trading cards, and a set for Game of Thrones 10th Anniversary set. He is also illustrating the cover for local author, Robert Campbell’s, horror novel for kids, “The Hunt for Dink the Clown.”

“I was very lucky to be born in a town with such a rich artistic history and community. Who knows if I would have pursued this career living anywhere else?” Look for Meeks’ work at Deviantart.com/Kapow2003 and Facebook: @Chris Meeks.

Once again, we offer special thanks to Richard Stephens for putting together our cover as he has for our first 29 years! Visit his website to check out his superb watercolors. www.raswatercolors.com.

Here’s to a sunny and cool April! Until next month…
