Crystal Bridges Museum Donates Art Books to GC Library

By Paul Kagebein
The Alice L. Walton Foundation and the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art donated a collection of art books to libraries across Arkansas, including the Garland County Library (GCL). These books are on display now along the library’s Art Wall, and are available for any registered library user to borrow. The donated books cover a variety of art movements and artists, focusing primarily on American art and artists. Find a full list of donated titles at www.gclibrary.com/news.

In 2015, a partnership developed between the library and Emergent Arts to curate the space. Over the years, local artists and art groups have exhibited a huge variety of artwork. Emergent Arts’ Programming Director Kara Gunter said, “Emergent Arts’ mission is to foster creativity among emerging artists of all ages. This is done through a dynamic variety of programming including classes and workshops, gallery exhibits, studio memberships, and professional development. Collaborating with the Garland County Library on the GCL Art Wall is a perfect way to not only give Garland County artists a venue to show their work, but also allows the residents of Garland County to experience the abundant creativity and skill of our community’s artists.” Artists interested in showcasing their art on the library’s Art Wall can contact kara@emergentarts.org.
