Life’s Unpredictability & Its Antidote

By Christi Nation

“As the world we live in is so unpredictable, the ability to learn, to adapt, and to change is imperative, alongside creativity, problem-solving, and communication skills.” – Alain Dehaze

Recently I was watching my niece, Lauren’s, soccer game. It struck me how unpredictable where the ball would go from one minute to the next. It depended on the trajectory of the shot if the team kept the ball or if it went to the other team. The players really had to keep their eyes on the ball and their heads in the game to keep up with it and gain the advantage. Fortunately, Lauren’s team won with a score of 3 – 2, but it could have easily gone the other way without proper concentration.

Sometimes we think we have life all planned and then unpredictability hits. A healthy perspective helps keep our cool when the inevitable bumps in the road arrive. Life can turn on a dime. The ability to stay calm and focused on what your goals are give you a higher likelihood of attaining them. Factor into your plan unpredictability will happen.

Until next time, here are your happiness actions:

~ Your attitude (perspective) is the antidote to the fear of unpredictability. Keep your attitude positive and focused no matter what.

~ Ponder this quote: “Adaptability is a great asset to have because life is so unpredictable, and things can change overnight for any of us.” – Chanda Kochhar

~ Even when life is unpredictable, focus on the gratitude of what is going according to plan and what goals have been achieved.
