A Variety of Quality Programs Scheduled at GC Library

By Paul Kagebein

To most people, February is traditionally a month of cold weather and warm hearts. For the Garland County Library, however, it’s yet another month of providing enriching programming and essential services to its community.

For starters, the generous volunteers from the AARP will be at the library providing free tax filing to the public starting February 1st, and running through mid-April.

The volunteers will be helping people on a first come, first serve basis, and will require certain identification, proof of income, and other paperwork in order to assist you. Please contact the library or visit our website for hours. You can also find a list of necessary items to bring.

On Wednesday, February 13th, the library is hosting two of its most popular ongoing program series. At 1:00 p.m., the Master Gardeners will be discussing roses. With thousands of varieties, learn everything there is to know about these fragrant beauties. That evening, at 6:00 p.m., the Hot Springs Jazz Society will perform its Season Finale concert. Don’t miss out on the thrilling experience of one of the greatest original American art forms!

There are too many quality February programs to showcase in detail – from “Classic Movie Trivia” on the same day as the 91st Academy Awards to “Funeral Arrangements 101,” an important discussion that everyone should be prepared for – there is a reason for everyone to step foot into the library this month.

Visit the library online at www.gclibrary.com or call the library at 501-623-4161 or 501-922-4483, for information about special events, library collections, or library services. The library is located at 1427 Malvern Avenue in Hot Springs.
