U.S. Marshal Museum in Fort Smith.
The Ouachita Speaker Series board welcomes David Kennedy, Curator of Collections and Exhibits at the U.S. Marshal Museum in Fort Smith, as the guest speaker in November. Set on the banks of the Arkansas River, the museum opened in 2023 and extols the history of the U.S. Marshals, who were authorized by the Judiciary Act of 1789.
But what is the role of the Marshals, and what are they responsible for? You may know about Marshal Matt Dillon of the “Gunsmoke” series, but what kind of work do they really do, and how do they impact our lives today? How did Fort Smith get selected to be the site of this prestigious museum?
Mr. Kennedy will address these many questions based on his extensive studies on the history of the American West, firearms, and the United States Marshals for most of his professional career in the museum industry.
The program will be held at The Woodlands Auditorium at 1101 DeSoto in Hot Springs Village, on November 11, at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $15 each or 2 for $25 and may be obtained through www.hotspringsvillage.thundertix.com. For more information, visit Facebook: Ouachita Speaker Series.
