Tesla Fest Returns to Celebrate the 167th Birthday of Nikola Tesla

Visitors to Tesla Fest will have the opportunity to experience the World’s Most Powerful Conical Tesla Coil and engage in various activities, including creating circuits, making their own phones, and examining X-rays using light boxes.

Mid-America Science Museum (MASM) will host the return of Tesla Fest on Saturday, July 8. This annual event commemorates the 167th birthday of the legendary inventor, Nikola Tesla, whose groundbreaking contributions to science and technology continue to inspire generations of scientists and inventors.

Tesla Fest is included with general admission to the museum, and the 167th guest to arrive will receive a complimentary Tesla Fest T-shirt.

“Tesla Fest is a celebration of innovation, curiosity, and the enduring spirit of discovery,” said Diane LaFollette, MASM’s CEO. “Through this event, we aim to inspire the minds of our visitors, particularly young learners in our community, to pursue their passions in science and technology. Nikola Tesla’s legacy continues to be a guiding light for future generations, and we are proud to honor him through this immersive and educational experience.”

Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to view science shows in the Dorothy Van Lue & Albert F.W. Habeeb Tesla Theater, home of the World’s Most Powerful Conical Tesla Coil. The Oaklawn Foundation Digital Dome Theater will also showcase presentations, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in Hot Springs’ only digital planetarium.

The Museum will also feature interactive Discovery Tables, where participants can experiment with some of Tesla’s most iconic theories. From exploring robotics to understanding electrical currents, these hands-on activities will engage and educate learners of all ages.

Attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite scientist or inventor to receive a specially designed Tesla Fest button. In addition, Tesla Fest will feature a Tesla scavenger hunt. The first 100 participants who successfully complete the hunt will receive a special prize.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to engage in various other activities, including creating circuits, making their own phones, and examining X-rays using light boxes. These experiences will offer a glimpse into the world of Nikola Telsa and his lasting influence on science and technology.

Named the 2022 winner of “Best Museum” in the Sentinel-Record’s Reader’s Choice Awards, Mid-America Science Museum is located at 500 Mid America Blvd in Hot Springs, AR. General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for children ages 3-12 and seniors aged 65 and older, and $11 for teachers and military.

The museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and Sundays, 1 to 5 PM. For more information, visit Midamericamuseum.org, or call 501-767-3461.
