Happiness Action: I Don’t Have Time

By Christi Nation

“The shorter way to do many things is to only do one thing at a time.” – Wolfgang Mozart

Do you have an overwhelming project that’s nagging at you, but something always gets in the way before you can get it done? Recently I met with a client and she said, “I just can’t get to it. Things keep popping up.”

How does timeblocking solve the problem? Set aside an hour each week in your calendar to deal with similar items. You can use it to get through an important office project, garage clean-out, towering file stack, overflowing email inbox, or routine paperwork.

Make a firm meeting with yourself. This is your timeslot each week to put things that normally get pushed to the back burner. Now you have a space in your calendar to say, “I do have time to do this!” There will always be something to go into that hour each week.

Until next time, here are your Happiness Actions:

  1. Ponder this quote “Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days.” – Zig Ziglar
