The Garland County Library will function as a donation drop off location for a Food and Essentials Holiday Drive through December 31st. Accepted donations include nonperishable (and unopened) foods, pet food & supplies, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, essential household goods, and new or gently used winter clothing.

Circulation supervisor, Karen Covey, was a leading advocate of the library hosting this drive. “We all need to try to help our friends in the community, including our pet friends, during this trying time,” she says. “The library is the perfect location for donations as a lot of people come here as part of their routine. Those library users who are fortunate enough and generous enough to be able to give to others don’t have to go out of their way to do so.”

These donations will be delivered at frequent intervals throughout the holiday season to various local charities based on their needs and requests.

Library Adult Services Programmer, Paul Kagebein, notes “Anything an individual can do to help the less financially privileged could make a small but positive difference in another individual’s life. Something like a couple cans of vegetables or a clean towel that some are able to take for granted might just make another family’s winter just a little bit easier.”
