Dinos Shine Bright at Mid America Museum

Mayor Pat McCabe led the countdown for the official lighting of the first-ever Dino-Lites at Mid-America Science Museum on Friday, November 23rd. Mayor McCabe spoke briefly at the opening ceremony for Dino-Lites, which is open to the public every Friday and Saturday evening until 7 pm and will end on the evening of Friday, December 21st. Dino-Lites is taking place on the museum’s Oaklawn Foundation DinoTrek located on the museum’s beautiful 21-wooded acres.

This year’s Dino-Lites included contributions from local school groups, non-profit organizations and businesses from the community of Hot Springs that each have an opportunity to win $500 for their best Dino-Lites display.

Guests visiting the museum will have the opportunity to vote on their favorites between now and December 21st and the winning team will be announced on Saturday, December 29th at the museum’s Noon Year’s Eve celebration.

This year’s Dino-Lites include Its About You, LLC, BFF Accounting, Ouachita Behavioral Health & Wellness Clinic, the Park Avenue Community Association, Hale Entertainment, HSV Village Voice, the Hot Springs Junior Academy 4-H & EAST class, Suicide Prevention Allies, and the Garland County Habitat for Humanity with special help from Fast Signs Hot Springs.

The Oaklawn Foundation DinoTrek and this year’s Dino-Lites is open during the museum’s general hours of operation at no additional cost to guests, but visitors are encouraged to visit during the evening hours until 7 pm on Fridays and Saturdays in order to really appreciate the holiday lighting displays.

Visitors to Mid-America Science Museum have a chance to vote for their favorite display when they come across the 1st Annual Dino-Lites! Several of thedinosaurs have been festively decorated for the holidays.
