Dr. Annie Xu returns to Hot Springs to practice primary care medicine at Hot Springs Internal Medicine Clinic in downtown Hot Springs.
Dr. Ann Xu graduated magna cum laude from Rice University in Houston, Texas where she completed her undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Biochemistry. She subsequently earned her Doctor of Medicine degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
She continued her medical training at her alma mater, completing her internal medicine residency during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her training during this critical time in the world helped underscore the importance of chronic health and wellness, cementing her decision to focus on primary care for her career.
With this new focus, Dr. Xu went on to serve as an assistant professor of internal medicine at the McNair Campus of Baylor College of Medicine. In addition to serving as a primary care physician, she led the Metabolic Syndrome Clinic, a joint effort between the Departments of Internal Medicine and Bariatric Surgery focusing on medical weight loss.
Growing up in Hot Springs as the daughter of internationally renowned local artist, Longhua Xu, and former restauranteur and gallery owner, Shunying Chen, Dr. Xu graduated from Lakeside High School and the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts.
Seeking to be closer to her family, “Dr. Annie” now returns to practice primary care medicine in Hot Springs. Her interests in medicine include chronic disease management and women’s health. She will be joining her brother, Dr. Yang Xu, and sister-in-law, Dr. Christine Lai, at Hot Springs Internal Medicine Clinic on 301 Exchange Street.
She is joined in town by her husband, Dr. Ruchit Rana, who is an allergist and immunologist joining Dr. Brian Jackson’s practice, Jackson Allergy and Asthma Clinic. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Annie, please call 501-621-4222.
