Ballet Audition for “Sleeping Beauty” Feb. 9

Saturday, February 9th, the Hot Springs Children’s Dance Theatre Company (HSCDTC) will be holding auditions at the Techniques Studio in Hot Springs for the ballet, Sleeping Beauty, which will premiere in Hot Springs, May 2019.

Under the direction of artistic director and choreographer Edmond Cooper, the HSCDTC is the only professional organization to produce two full scale stage ballets annually in Central Arkansas.

These auditions are open for male and female dancers from the ages of 5 and up. The auditions will be held Saturday, February 9; 9-10am for dancers 5-9 years old; 10:30– 12:00 noon for 10–13 yr. old and 12:00–1:30 pm ages 14 and older. Students should arrive 30 minutes prior to their audition time to register.

At the audition, students will do a ballet barre, learn a small excerpt of material, and will be asked to dance. A parent or guardian must be present for students under 18 years of age to sign appropriate waiver forms.

An audition fee of $10 is required. Each performer selected to participate will be required to sign an agreement and pay a participation fee of $50 due by the second week of rehearsals. An additional costume fee of $90 will also be required in April.

Dress code for girls is black leotard, pink tights, hair in a bun and ballet shoes while advanced and intermediate females will need to bring pointe shoes. Male dress code is tights, shorts or sports pants and t-shirt during auditions.

Techniques Studio located at 321 Section Line Road Suite G, adjacent to the main post office.
