Tarot: The Hierophant V

By Michelle Crandell.

The Fool vows to live up to the confidence the Empress and Emperor have in him.

However, as he walks his path, he starts to worry. “Can I really be the master of my fate?” he asks himself. He longs to return to the predictable safety of the Emperor’s castle.

Just as the Fool is about to turn back, he sees an impressive building nearby. A man steps out and greets the Fool. He has a serene face and bright, intelligent eyes. “Come with me,” the man says. “I am the Hierophant. This is your school.”

The Fool learns many life lessons from the Hierophant. He learns: “How a person perceives something to be is how it is for them.”

He learns: “Every front has a back; the bigger the front, the bigger the back.” He learns: “Trust is about learning to predict yourself, the world and others accurately.” He learns: “There is no fairness, except for that which we create.”

And sadly, he learns: “All relationships end, save the one with yourself.”

The Fool learns to examine the world with an open mind, using logic and experimentation, finding answers to life’s questions and concerns. He learns to create win-win relationships with others. One day, the Hierophant tells the Fool, “Life lessons need to be practiced. It is time for you to apply the wisdom I have taught you.”
