Tarot: The High Priestess

By Michelle Crandell.

The Fool leaves the Magician, aware of the set of tools he can use on his journey. Soon, he encounters a
mysterious woman, her lovely face slightly obscured by shadows and a gossamer veil. The Magician was outgoing,
animated and talkative. This woman is introspective, still and silent. He hears the words “High Priestess” from a
place he can’t identify.

Sensing she might understand what he needs, the Fool lays his tools out before her. “I’ve just discovered a
sword, a cup, a staff and a disc in my possession,” he explains. “I don’t really know how to use them and I can’t decide what to do. Can you help me?”

The High Priestess remains silent. In response to his request, she shares her scrolls with him. Reading them
is strange. They combine words, pictures and symbols in unusual patterns. He has trouble remembering what he sees but somehow knows the scrolls make sense.
He thinks, “I can imagine using my tools in different combinations. I can consider the importance, the
urgency or the sequence used to make my dreams come true.” The Fool sighs, “I’m still not exactly sure how to proceed, though.”

Suddenly, words come into his mind. An inner voice says, “Follow your instincts, your intuition.” He looks
down, checking within, and immediately knows what to do next.
