C4K Birth

Cutwell 4 Kids (C4K) is hosting its fifth annual fundraiser, The Birth of an Artist. The event will take place on Saturday, August 11th, from 7pm-10pm at Emergent Arts, at 341 Whittington Avenue in Hot Springs.

In addition to the exciting art work from our community of emerging artists, the event will also feature musical talent in areas of jazz and R&B. They will have an extraordinary art sale featuring the visual artist Ayana Williams from the University of Central Arkansas. In addition to local and statewide young artists, there will also be live entertainment provided by youth jazz band RockTown Jazz Squad, and R&B artist Madison Love. Light hors d’oeuvre will be served.

C4K is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization for kids ages 4 – 12. This very hands-on art program allows children to do what they do naturally – play – while gaining valuable learning skills. C4K’s youth-friendly environment is designed especially for kids that are highly active and allows them to express themselves freely with paint. A scary thought for adults, but as artist and founder Anthony Tidwell explains, “We are dedicated to providing a positive atmosphere for kids to express themselves with paint and that’s exactly what we do.”

Each Saturday, May through July, free of charge, kids meet at Tidwell’s studio to acquire and refine their art skills. The studio resides in a renovated space that was formerly Tidwell’s grandparent’s barber and snack shop.

Proceeds will help C4K continue its mission in the community. Admission is $20 at the door and donations are accepted. For more information, call 214-497-3715, email mrtidwell@yahoo.com.

The Birth of an Artist is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Hot Springs Area Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation, and from funding by the Morris Foundation and Tim’s Barber Shop.
